Kenwood XS8 Remote

Reverse engineering a 1995 Kenwood receiver’s system-control interface and bridging it with HDMI-CEC.

A perfectly good Kenwood KR-V6070 receiver from 1995, missing its original remote. An unfamiliar XS SYSTEM CONTROL connector on the back. Elsewhere, a TV waking up unexpectedly and a question about how an Apple TV remote changes the volume.

Those two investigations meet in a Raspberry Pi bridging HDMI-CEC and Kenwood XS8.

This is a conceptual control path, not a wiring diagram or a claim of verified behavior. The electrical interface, command mapping, and unresolved questions belong in the detailed write-up.

The first article is being drafted. Actual photographs, diagrams, and logs will be added when available.
